Oscar's DNA test results have come back showing that he is FF (affected). This mean he has the long coat gene. If he were to have been bred (which he will not) he would pass that gene along to his offspring. A dog with what appears to be a normal coat can pass along the gene. Due to Oscar being FF he would have passed that gene on and his puppies could have been 50% carriers and 50% affected or the entire litter could have just been carriers. This was not a factor I was willing to gamble with. Yes this is cosmetic but it is not what I wanted to be remembered for in the Rottweiler breed. This was a decision that was very difficult for his breeder and me to make, especially after living with this boy and watching him grow and the structure the temperament he had was that and more of a rottweiler. He is making a wonderful family happy. I miss him to pieces but the updates and pictures are the best.
